Several Carrollton businesses were recently recognized for their efforts to create and maintain a sustainable community.
The 2018 Environmental Leadership Awards, which were held during a City Council meeting, recognizes companies that have complied with industrial pretreatment and stormwater regulations for a full year, according to city officials.
“It is my honor and my great pleasure to acknowledge those industries that have made the commitment to achieve environmental excellence and to improve quality and vitality of our community,” said Mayor Pro Tem John Sutter. “All of you are to be commended for your pollution prevention achievement, your commitment to environmental principles and your leadership role in creating a sustainable future in your facilities and in the community.”
BuzzBallz, ElectroPlate Circuitry Capital, ElectroPlate Circuitry Century, Halliburton Energy Services, Illes Food Ingredients, Image Industries, International Paper-Beltline Road, MI Windows and Doors, LLC, Quality Powder Coating, LLC, QuikTrip #930 and WMC Industrial were granted awards.
According to city officials, recognition was previously known as the Consistently Compliant Award but was to reflect the partnership between these industries and the city.
The environmental distinction award, which is given to organizations that demonstrate pollution prevention practices, went to MI Windows and Doors.
“We applaud all of your efforts to integrate sound environmental practices into your operations,” Sutter said. “By doing so, you help the city of Carrollton achieve our goals and help the direction towards community sustainability.”
